Broader beet range gives more flexibility

Cropmark Seeds has expanded its fodder beet portfolio with the introduction of four new varieties, further strengthening what is now the most extensive fodder beet range available in New Zealand.

The new additions - Erasmo, Palermo, Guillermo and Firmo - showcase the latest in fodder beet genetics and offer a range of bulb dry matter percentages from low to high.

This provides farmers with greater flexibility to select varieties that best suit their farm systems and feeding strategies, the company says.

These new varieties complement its existing fodder beet line-up, which already includes well-established performers such as Geronimo, along with the versatile Anselmo and Kokomo in the low-medium dry matter category.

These varieties can be utilised in the same way as low DM types while delivering higher yields, making them a strong option for farmers seeking both performance and flexibility.

“We work closely with international breeding partner KWS to bring the latest fodder beet genetics to NZ farms,” the company says.

“All varieties are thoroughly trialled to ensure they deliver reliable performance under NZ conditions.”

For rural retailers and field representatives, reliability is critical.

“The performance of the varieties you recommend reflects directly on you and your business.

Our fodder beet range has been developed with this in mind, focusing on consistent yield, strong establishment and uniform crops farmers can rely on.”

High seed quality, advanced seed treatments and pellet technology all contribute to reliable germination and even crop establishment, helping reduce risk for both farmers and the retailers advising them.

“With varieties spanning low through to high dry matter options, our diverse portfolio means that no matter the farm system, there is a quality Cropmark fodder beet to suit.”

Supply of the new varieties is limited this season.
