Landmark appointment for local team

UPL New Zealand has appointed Sarah Dewes as country head, marking the first time a woman has held this role for UPL in the APAC region.

Since joining UPL NZ in 2022, Dewes has brought energy, clarity, and a knack for turning challenges into opportunities, the company says.

Reflecting on her new role, she’s excited to lead UPL NZ into its next chapter.

“We already have a fantastic team of people who are passionate, driven, and deeply committed to our growers and partners.

“I see huge opportunities ahead, and I’m looking forward to the value that we can add to our growers and farmers to further support our industry.”

Dewes’ career progression from key account manager to national sales manager has been marked by execution excellence and a strong commitment to empowering those around her.

These qualities have positioned her well to lead UPL NZ’s next phase, the company says.

As country head, Dewes will oversee the company’s commercial strategy, strengthen operations, and continue building a high-performing, people-first culture.

Her leadership will focus on delivering value to growers and partners while driving innovation and sustainability across NZ’s agricultural sector.

She steps into the role following Blake Mackie’s departure. UPL thanks Blake for his contributions and leadership during his tenure.

To mark her appointment and hard work, the UPL NZ team presented Dewes with a korowai - a traditional Māori cloak - as a sign of respect and celebration.
