Hawke’s Bay celebrates export winners

One of the region’s biggest employers has been judged supreme winner at the 2026 ASB Hawke’s Bay Export Awards.

Pan Pac Forest Products was hailed for its ability to rebuild export momentum after Cyclone Gabrielle, despite its mill being closed for 12 months.

Judges say the company stands out as an established local exporter that has returned to markets with focus and ambition, supported by strong customer relationships, an integrated forest products model, and a disciplined approach to rebuilding supply.

Pan Pac delivered over $600 million in export sales across Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America, and regained its position as New Zealand’s largest exporter to India across all sectors.

The company also won the T&G Global Best Established Business Award, with judges recognising its resilience, leadership, commitment to its people, and contribution to the Hawke’s Bay economy.

ExportNZ Regional Manager Amanda Liddle said Pan Pac’s success demonstrated the strength of the region’s export sector.

"Pan Pac’s story is one of resilience, scale, and ambition. The team has recovered from significant disruption and returned to global markets with real focus, while continuing to make a major contribution to Hawke’s Bay and New Zealand."
